I like clothes, though I have never considered myself to be a fashionista, by any means. Growing up in a small town, my options for clothing were limited to Target, a local chain called Styles 4 Less (that has sense spread to SoCal too), and the occasional and magical trip to Forever 21 and Hot Topic when I visited my grandparents. Now that I live in LA, where the possibilities for cute clothes is endless — and anything you can’t find can be found on the internet in about 2 seconds — I feel like I’ve been able to come into my own style a bit more. And let me tell you: that style is geek chic.

I try and look presentable at my job, but the majority of my closet is still filled with superhero tanks and t-shirts, geeky varsity jackets and an ever growing section of cosplay outfits. Needless to say, I am constantly on the look out for new pieces to add to my wardrobe. Here are the 5 geek clothing items I NEED in my closet now!

1. Black Milk N7 Leggings

I’ve been eyeing these incredible leggings for a LONG time. I’m actually pretty proud of myself for not just buying them already (at $80+ a pop I would get buyer’s remorse immediately), but the struggle is real not having them. I would love to have these for casual Con days, work and to throw on to look like a bad ass at the grocery store.

2. Star Wars Vans

I don’t always wear sneakers, but when I do, I want them to be Star Wars sneakers. I’ve talked about my love of the new Star Wars line at Vans, and they just added a handful of new designs. I really like these Empire Strikes Back-themed one (it’s my favorite of the movies) cause they’re just geeky enough to make a statement and just subtle enough to go with a variety of outfits.

3. HerUniverse 9th Doctor Dress

It almost makes me angry how many cute things HerUniverse has. Really, I’m just mad about the fact that I can’t afford to buy all of them. Last Christmas, HerUniverse debuted their super cute 10th and 11th Doctor dresse,s which I was dying to buy (I went with the TARDIGAN instead). But while 10 will always be my Doctor, this 9th Doctor is my new favorite dress. It’s more my style — I don’t wear dresses often — and it has purple!

4. Harry Potter Hogwarts Crested Slip-Ons

One of my favorite shoe trends right now is the slip-on loafer — obviously, not anything revolutionary or new, just on trend. I have a go-to comfy shoe, a Tommy Hilfger smoking shoe with a cool, swirling crest on the front, so these Harry Potter shoes speak to me. I bet they are so comfortable and easy, and duh, Harry Potter.

5. Brother’s Cut Assassin’s Creed Hoodie

Technically, this jacket is made for men, but come on. Look at the mannequin. I got this. Besides the fact that it’s Assassin’s Creed-inspired, the jacket is sleek and interesting and cool and I’m hoping to have it before I get AC Unity. Don’t worry, I won’t try and scale any buildings or air-assassinate anyone … OK, I won’t scale any buildings.
